Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Varna Community Primary School
At Varna Community Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive, supportive environment where every child can achieve their full potential. Our experienced and dedicated staff work closely with pupils and families to ensure that individual needs are identified and met effectively.
We have a team of full-time SEND Learning Support Assistants who work with children across the school and deliver regular, targeted intervention groups. In addition, our in-house Speech and Language Therapists visit school every other week to support staff, children and families.
To ensure that each child receives the right support, we work in partnership with a range of external professionals, including Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Health Visitors and the School Nursing team.
Our SENDCo, Mrs D. Cheetham, is available to answer any questions you may have and to offer guidance around SEND provision at Varna.
Further information and useful resources can be found in the downloadable files at the bottom of this page.
Please visit Manchester's Local Offer web page for further information on services you can access in the community.

Coffee Mornings
We have created a programme of coffee mornings over the year to support parents of children with SEN/D. Please see the flyer below for upcoming dates!
On Wednesday 13th March we had a lovely coffee morning with Kim and Jenny our Speech and Langauge therapists that work in Varna on Wednesdays. Thank you to everyone who came and participated. Please click here for a link to the powerpoint and see below in the files to download for the resources they shared.
Thank you to everyone who came to our coffee morning on 16.01.2024 with Dr Teresa Regan, Educational Psychologist. Feedback from parents that attended was very positive and everyone found this session really useful. Dr Teresa Regan shared a document with us that has links to useful resources. Please see this below in 'Files to download' labelled 'Resources for parents'. We look forward to our next coffee morning on Wednesday 13th March at 9am with Kimberly Chu, our speech and langauge therapist.
Our first coffee morning was held 08/11/23 and was a great success! We welcomed Ali from the Local Offer Team who showed us how to access the website and newsletter. She also highlighted the events on in the near furture and the drop in sessions. Thank you to everyone that attended our coffee morning and we hope to see you again at the next one on Tuesday 16th January at 9am where we will welcome Dr Teresa Regan, Educational Psychgolgoist.
