Rights Respecting School

Introduction

Varna Community Primary School is a Rights Respecting School.

Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive.

The school’s Unicef Rights Respecting Award threads through the whole school. It helps develop pupils’ acceptance of difference and diversity, and provides them with a strong moral compass.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens. Using the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)  as a guide. The Award recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond.

In July 2019 Varna Community Primary were awarded the RRSA Bronze: Rights Committed by Unicef.

Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. Every child, no matter who they are or where they live, has the right to grow up safe, happy and healthy.

Since September 2019 the school has been working towards achieving Silver RRSA status.
