Headteacher welcome

Dear parents and carers, I hope you and the children all managed a restful Summer. It has been wonderful to hear the children’s voices and see them enjoying time with friends within their new classes last week.

As you are aware, it was announced over the weekend that the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will be held on 19th September 2022 and that this day has been designated an official bank holiday. As such school will be closed on that day. In order to mark this sad event, as a school community we had a whole school assembly last Friday morning and had some reflection time within classes later that day too. This week we are going to create a Book of Condolence, where staff and children will be able to contribute with their thoughts and memories of our late Queen. Parents, carers and other family members will be able to contribute if they so wish.

The death of Her Majesty the Queen has been a huge shock to the nation and to the world. Queen Elizabeth II championed the development of the Commonwealth - from a small group of seven countries to a family of 56 nations spanning every continent of the world. She has been our longest-ever reigning monarch and has presided with such dignity and grace for 70 years. She was loved and admired by the people in the United Kingdom and all around the world and this has been borne out by the number of tributes that we’ve seen paid in the media day after day.

In light of this sad news we wanted to share messages from around the world. Please click on the links below to read what other people said following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
