Year 3 trip to Smithills Open Farm
Start: 28th Jan 2020 8:50am
Duration: All day
Dear Parents / Carers,
Year 3 are planning a visit to Smithills Open Farm on Tuesday 28th January 2020.
The trip links to this half term's topic of "Where food comes from". The trip will give children the opportunity to see a working farm and will include activities such as tractor rides, animal feeding and watching a live milking demonstration. Children will also be given the opportunity to hold small animals such as rabbits, chicks and guinea pigs as well as meet some more unusual creatures such as owls, pythons, and alpacas.
We think the children will have a fantastic time on the trip and it will enthuse them about their new topic while giving them lots of information.
Children must wear school uniform. A warm waterproof coat and sensible shoes for outdoor walking, such as trainers, boots or wellies are also necessary if wet.
We will be leaving school at 9.15am and returning to school by the end of the day.
To contribute towards the cost of the trip, we would ask for a voluntary contribution of £4.00 in total. This should be paid online using our online payment system (SIMS AGORA). Please contact the school office for more information. All school trips are currently heavily subsidised by the school and we do rely on your contributions in order for them to go ahead.
The children will be having a packed lunch whilst out on the trip, if your child normally has a meal in school this will be provided by the school. If you are entitled to free meals you will not need to pay for this, if you normally pay for your meals then you will need to pay. If your child normally has a packed lunch you should still provide this in a clear plastic bag with your child’s name clearly written on.
To give permission for your child to go on the school trip you must log on to school spider and give consent, without this, your child will not be able to attend.
Thank you for all your continued support and we look forward to a fantastic and memorable day out for the children.
Yours Sincerely
Y3 staff
